SPREAD INDIA is working on the following activities in rural India:
-
Study Centers
It is a well-known fact that in many villages, students of meager economic means lack basic facilities like electricity. In many cases, parents don't have any education to guide their children in their studies. They also can't afford to send them to any private tuition classes or provide any other additional support. Due to this, many students are not able to get through even 10th class. This failure ratio is discouraging other parents from sending their children to schools. We have opened a few study centers to make sure that this phenomenon does not cause a drop in the enrolment in the schools and to make sure that learning is reinforced.
-
Basic Facilities in Schools
There are many schools without the basic infrastructural facilities like classrooms, benches and tables, library, science lab, sports equipment and other essential supplies. Due to this many schools are unable to provide quality education. We have been working on providing some schools the resources they need to impart education of high quality.
-
Scholarships to Rank Students
The objective of the Scholarships program is to create a healthy spirit of competition among students studying in different schools located in selected regions. Through this program, the highest rank holders from 7th and 10th grades are selected for awards. Depending on the progress of these rank holders, we will also extend support to their higher education. This program will also encourage the parents to pay more attention to their children's education. The achievements of their peers will also inspire other students. Dramatic results have been achieved through this long-term commitment to students' education.
- Support A Student
Dropout rate in Indian primary, middle and high schools, especially in rural areas, continues to be shamefully
high even after 57 years after independence and in spite of innumerable programs
taken up by the Government. The reasons for such high dropout rates among
village kids include poverty, lack of awareness about the importance of
education, and lack of conducive environment.
The magnitude of the problem
calls for our concerted efforts, not just by government, but also by all those
concerned with the quality of life of the people. That is why SPREAD has been
focusing on education with the help of generous people like you.
After discussing with the schoolteachers
and village elders, we believe that we have to extend
financial help to kids. Through our help the school kid can
acquire the most basic things like books, clothes, food and
a conducive environment where the kid can study without much
distraction. You can bring the
light of education into a kids life with a small amount of
$15 per month

Adult Education
Literacy is very essential for the economic development of our country. Recognizing the need for its improvement, various Government and non-Government agencies have been working for many years and have achieved some success. However the teeming millions of rural India still need substantial help to improve their literacy rate. In addition, educated parents are vital for the continued enrolment and learning of children in schools. Realizing this, SPREAD INDIA is determined to enhance the activity of Adult Education Centers aggressively in numerous villages.
-
Health Camps
Many villages lack basic health care facilities. Poor sanitation is another major factor contributing to health hazards. People need to go to nearby towns even for their basic health needs. If there is any medical emergency, they can't afford the associated cost. Hence there is a need for Primary Health Centers in each village. Though some villages have Primary Health Centers for namesake, they don't have even minimum facilities. In order to fulfill these needs, SPREAD INDIA has decided to identify the needy villages and organize health camps periodically. Providing some basic sanitation facilities and educating the people to keep their surroundings safe and clean are important goals of SPREAD INDIA.
-
Rural Infrastructure Developement
As you are well aware, many rural people
in India are forced to leave the villages and migrate to the
nearest towns/cities because of the poor infrastructural
facilities. Lack of drinking water, sanitation, medical
facilities, and lack of basic roads and irrigation
facilities are some of the main reasons why people are
leaving the villages. Spread India recognizes this situation
as a major concern and commits to get involved in
reconstruction of infrastructure in our villages.
