Scholarships
The objective of Scholarships program is to create a competitive
spirit among students studying in different schools located in
selected region.
Through this program, the poor highest rank holders
are selected for scholarships. Depending on the progress
of these rank holders, we will also extend support for their
higher education.
This program will also encourage the parents to pay more attention on
their children's education. It will also be helpful for them
financially. Other students will also get inspired by the
achievements of their peers. This long-term commitment to students'
education provides dramatic results.

There are three types are scholarships that SPREAD INDIA supports:
|
| Study Center Scholarships: These scholarships are available for students who
actively participate in the Study Centers that are supported
by SPREAD INDIA. The top two rankers of X th grade from all the Study Centers are given a
yearly amount of Rs. 5000 for supporting their future education, for a period of
4 to 6 years, provided they are enrolled full-time in school.
The performance of the students who receive this type of scholarship is closely
monitored to ensure that the enthusiasm never diminishes. |

| Scholarships based on Exams: Students in grades seven and ten have
to take an exam that is common across the state. Among the students
in the government schools in the backward regions where SPREAD INDIA is active,
the top performers in these exams are given one-time scholarships.
These scholarships are handed out by pairing a donor with the scholarship:
in other words, the amount given to the student will be the amount that
a donor pledges for this purpose. The donor can pick the school(s) where
the scholarship(s) are to be handed out.

| Need-based Scholarships: There are often cases of students
who are academically bright and immersed deep in poverty
and these students need to be supported so that they can
pursue their academic dreams. When such students approach SPREAD INDIA for
financial help, volunteers will review the case and
allocate the appropriate amount from this scholarships
pool to the student. More often than not, this is a
one-time scholarship and the students are encouraged to
make use of the facilities that SPREAD INDIA is offering
at their schools.

| Prizes: To sustain the all-round development that
SPREAD INDIA promotes among students, we conduct competitions in
extra-curricular activities like Essay Writing, Quiz competitions,
Painting/Sketching, Handcrafting, Poetry Recitation etc. Prizes are
given to the top performers for each category (and possibly age bracket).
Though these prizes typically cost lesser, the impact that they have on
the students is vital. For example, giving the first prize winner in the
Essay Writing competition a book of quotes encourages his/her talent and
enhances the students abilities in that field.
